We already have a look at caring for your dildos and sex toys in the first part of this series, and we looked at the importance of keeping silicone based lubricants away from silicone toys, and also how two silicone dildos can react together. We have also taken a peek at how to care for glass and metal dildos. This is where things start to get a little complicated…

Ejaculating Dildos

If you have one of these beauties, you need to make sure that you don’t leave anything in the “spout” of the dildo itself. You certainly don’t want to leave any of the ejaculation fluid in the vibrator until next time – this will cause a whole host of problems. Always make sure that you flush these toys through and ensure that your ejaculating dildos are washed correctly as per their main material as well – silicone, glass, etc.

Rubber & Jelly Dildos

These are the most common materials used in dildos and yet people still don’t know how to care for them properly. Most of the dildos that are made from rubber or jelly are known to be a porous material which means if you don’t clean it properly, any remaining residue of cleaner/body fluids/water can soak into the material of the dildo itself, and this will case bacteria to form. In turn this will mean that you suffer with some nasty infections.

Ideally you should look at using a new condom on your dildo every time you choose to use it but this isn’t always practical and we do understand this. With warm water and a good cleaner, you should make sure that you get into all the crevices of your dildos, especially if it is considered to be one of the big dildos – make sure that you check all the ridges and under the head, etc.

Realistic Dildos and Dongs

If you have decided to go with a dildo that is basically just like the feel of a real man such as those made from Real-Skin, CyberSkin or UR3, you are going to want to make sure that you spend a lot of time and care on looking after your toys. You need to clean this dildo thoroughly with a good cleaner, repeating the washing action a couple of times, and making sure that you dry the toy afterwards as well. After cleaning, you will often find that the toy itself can feel tacky to the touch and professionals and experts recommend a tiny dusting of corn starch or corn flour.

Again just like with silicone dildos and other sex toys, you should try to make sure that you don’t put different toys together that are made from the same material. We are sure that the last thing you will want is a couple of sex toys fused together. Especially if you are in the mood!

The right care for your dildos and vibrators will ensure a lengthy and happy relationship between the two of you. These toys will be as good to you as you are to them. It just makes sense to know how to care for them, right?
